20 years of driving innovation and industry improvement

Our heritage

The 21st century has already delivered a full-scale revolution in the delivery and ownership of connections. Starting in 1996, there has been a quiet revolution but one that has seen our members deliver large-scale improvements in innovation, competition and service across the industry.

It was recognised that, together, the AIGT and CNA would achieve synergies from combining their respective skills, experience and memberships to achieve true industry collaboration[/icon_timeline_item][icon_timeline_item time_title=”2020″]At the start of 2020, the independent gas and electricity networks agreed to merge the AIGT and CNA into a single trade association, the Independent Networks Association (INA), to be the authoritative voice for Independent Networks in the UK[/icon_timeline_item][icon_timeline_item time_title=”2021″]The INA expanded to cover independent water and wastewater companies.[/icon_timeline_item][/icon_timeline]

The INA is now well positioned to help shape the energy and water sectors in the UK as we move forward towards a net-zero future.
