Aurora Utilities Joins the Independent Networks Association

The Independent Networks Association (INA) is delighted to announce that Aurora Utilities has joined as its first new member of 2025, signalling the continued growth and innovation in the independent connections and utilities sector across England and Wales.

Aurora Utilities is a newly established Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) that specialises in providing fast, flexible, and sustainable electricity connections for new developments. The company operates across five critical sectors:

  • Electric vehicle charging infrastructure
  • Battery storage and renewable energy projects
  • Data centres
  • Industrial and commercial developments
  • Residential housing developments

Welcoming Aurora Utilities to the INA, Executive Director Nicola Pitts said:

“We are thrilled to welcome Aurora Utilities as our first new member of 2025. Their commitment to delivering innovative, flexible, and sustainable solutions aligns perfectly with the INA’s mission to support the transition to a smarter, greener energy system. Their addition strengthens our collective voice at a critical time for infrastructure development in the UK.”

Simon Reilly, CEO of Aurora Utilities, added:

“Joining the INA is a natural step for Aurora as we continue to expand our operations to support the UK’s transition to a low-carbon future. We look forward to working with fellow members to advocate for greater competition, innovation, and efficiency in the utilities sector as we collectively strive to achieve Net Zero by 2050.”

The INA represents the UK’s leading independent electricity, gas, and water network owners and operators. Collectively, INA members connect over 80% of new homes and provide critical infrastructure that supports economic growth and the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.
